What To Wear To A Holiday Party

How festive is this little dress?! I love all the metallics, glitter, and rhinestones that the holidays bring out in clothing. Finding something eye catching that makes you feel pretty, but not totally uncomfortable can be difficult sometimes. I get it. We work all week in clothes that don't feel like your sweatpants at home, so feeling pretty without being wrapped up like a pig in a blanket is key, and this dress does just that. It glimmers beautifully in the light, it's not skin tight, and it's super lightweight! While I'm not typically a fan of chokers, I love the choker detail on this dress. It brings your eye up, and gives people something interesting to look at. I wanted a little extra glam in my accesories, so I paired it with these Kendra Scott statement earrings and an envelope clutch that's not too big but still fits everything you need to take with you to the celebration.

I had a crazy busy weekend! I feel like I need a weekend from my weekend, haha. But I guess I'll be getting that with half the week off for Thanksgiving! Hope everyone is having a good Monday!

Gift Guide: 7 Beauty Gifts Under $50

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmassss! Our artificial trees are up, the hot cocoa and marshmallows are stocked, and the Hallmark movies are running. The only thing missing are gift guides! With that being said, each week leading up until the Christmas holiday, I will be providing gift guides for all of the loved ones in your circle. Today I'm rounding up my favorite holiday beauty sets under $50.

Each year, my girlfriends and I get together at my house for a secret santa/white elephant gift exchange! The first thing that came to my mind when I ran across these holiday sets, was that party! These are the perfect gifts for your beauty obsessed friends (or daughter, sister, etc), while being easy on your wallet. Whose ready!?

MAC Snowball Nude Lip Bag, $39.50 // MAC killed it with the holiday gift sets this year! I think I want them all, so you'll see their name mentioned a few times in this post. This set is my number one favorite of the collection! It includes a full sized lipstick (Sending Love), liner (Doubletime), and gloss (Iced Dream) in beautiful pink-tinged nude shades. If you know me, you know I love a good nude lip over anything, so this was the perfect excuse to try a new color combination. The trio comes packaged inside of a really pretty case as well, which has plenty of room for a few additional lipsticks, liners and glosses. If I could, I would give one of these to every girlfriend I have! It's that good.

Smashbox Travel Primer Set, $22 // Smashbox is another brand I use regularly for makeup. This trio of travel sized face primers helps defeat shine and blur pores for a perfectly smooth appearance to skin. I swear by this if I'm going out to shoot pictures for the blog, heading to an event etc. This works great for all skin types, but I would especially recommend it to those who get shiny throughout the day!

Fresh Skincare Cult Classics, $19.50 // This little set will give you hydrated skin and nourished lips for 24 hours. The Soy Face Cleanser is one of my holy grail skincare products. It smells good, leaves my skin feeling clean and smooth, and it works for all skin types. I've been dying to test out the Sugar Lip Treatment Advanced Therapy, so when I saw it came inside of this kit it was a done deal. I struggle with dry lips and use Sugars regular lip treatment daily, but the advanced therapy is supposed to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and smooth cracks etc. I can't wait to try it!

MAC Snow Ball Eye Compact, $29.50 // Wintry shades for the win! This palette comes with six of MAC's most popular smokey eye shades to drench your lids in this seasons most lustrous colors. Personally, I'm a big fan of both the smokey eye and MAC makeup so I knew this was something I wanted to try, and it doesn't disappoint. The colors are very pigmented and last all day without reapplication. It comes in two color options (rose gold pictured above), and sold out in store at our Nordstrom within the first 48 hours of putting it out.

MAC Snow Ball Mini Brush Kit, $29.50 // Rose gold seems to be the color of the season for MAC! This kit comes with a full size powder brush, shadow brush, and liner brush nestled inside of the cutest little case (pom pom included). This is the perfect gift for the girl on the go! It's travel sized, so it fits inside of your purse perfectly for touch ups throughout the day. I also highly recommend the quality of these brushes, and what girl doesn't love a good brush set?

Sugar Lip Blooming Beauties Collection, $38 // Four of Sugar's best-selling lip treatments in one box. If you follow me on stories, or have been reading my blog for awhile, then you know I highly recommend Sugar Lip products. What I love about this particular product is that it smooths and nourishes your lips like a chapstick would, but it also tints them like lipstick. The four colors included are Original (has SPF in it), Rose, Bloom, and Petal. I got one of these for my sister last year as a stocking stuffer, and she's been hooked ever since!

MAC Snow Ball Nude Mini Lip Gloss Kit, $29.50 // This is one of MAC's limited edition kits. It includes three nude glosses in shades Below Freezing, Winter Warmer, and Iced Over. I am typically loyal to BareMinerals for gloss, however they discontinued the gloss I loved so I decided to try out this set from MAC instead. The glosses are creamy and the shades go perfectly over their lipsticks. I always use a gloss over my lipstick, and love to find new colors to pair together. This would be the perfect gift for the girl who loves natural hued makeup.

These are definitely sets for the girly girl who loves makeup or skincare, but I don't think you can go wrong with any of them! They are all on my personal wishlist, and I bought several of them as gifts to bring to the holiday parties I have this year. You can see additional gift set options at different price points here.

Stylish Thanksgiving Dinner Outfit

No pants? No problem. Can ya'll believe Thanksgiving is ONE week away!? The last part of this year is flying by! I'm headed to Seattle next week to spend the holiday with family, and I couldn't be more excited for some "down" time. My mom makes coming home one of the best things on the planet! There's nothing more comforting than mama's home cooked food, sleeping in my childhood bed (which isn't very "childhood" - it's a dream to sleep on), and bombing around town doing all the fun things with her! It's hard living in opposite corners of the country sometimes, I miss the quality time I used to be able to have with her in person - so I'm going to cherish every minute of it.

Anyway, I couldn't wait to share this sweater dress with you guys! Speaking of comfort and cozy, this dress is at the top of my list in that category. I love it as an idea for Thanksgiving dinner (see here for additional Thanksgiving dinner outfit ideas) with the in laws or significant others parents! It's not too fancy, practical for the food baby, but still so cute! I paired it with this buffalo check scarf to bring some pattern in over a solid color. I think it ties in nicely with the black accents in the boots, bag, and earrings too! You can also add a skinny little belt around the waist for a more formal look. I'm also really loving the price tag on this (it's 50% off today only making it $35), and it comes in a Mauve color as well. For more 50% off dress options, click here

That's all for today, friends. Brittany from Loverlygrey is coming to visit and stay with us tomorrow! We've got a fun project we are working on together with Bailey from Here's The Skinny, so stay tuned on Instagram Stories to get a sneak peak of our adventure.

What To Wear To A Winter Wedding

The first official day of winter is a little over a month away, and with temperatures rapidly dropping, I wanted to take some time to share a winter wedding look to get you through this festive season! Being that our wedding is also in the winter, I'm noticing that people truly do stress out about what to wear to weddings. So hopefully this post brings you some inspiration!

I found this velvet wrap dress on Maggy London's site and knew it would be perfect for a wedding we were attending towards the end of the year. I'm a fan of wrap dresses in general, but the added texture the velvet gives this dress just made me fall head over heels for it! It's a gorgeous Bordeaux color (which screams fall/winter/holidays to me), and it's thick enough to keep you warm (great quality for the price point). This could also double as the perfect option for an office holiday party! I typically wear a size 4 and sized down one size to a 2 in this dress for the perfect fit! It has some stretch to it as well! The wedding we were attending was in the evening, so I opted for gold accessories to glam things up a bit but you could easily pair it with neutrals too.

The stock on this dress is running out faster than I've ever seen anything run out before. I was able to find most sizes but at separate retailers. If you click on one of the links in the widget below and don't see your size, click on the next photo as I linked all the sizes I could find via different retailers. Petites however, are fully stocked!

Side note, I feel like everyone around me is sick right now! Lord knows I can't afford to be sick again being 46 days away from the wedding! I'm already getting achy, so I'm running around the house taking every vitamin and preventative measure in sight!

Balloon Sleeve Sweater + The Sephora VIB Sale

Sunday, we meet again! Am I the only one who always feels like the weekends are too short?! This balloon sleeve sweater and I are new best friends! I went shopping with a girlfriend of mine last week, and couldn't resist that gorgeous bright red color! I mean, hello Christmas! Up until two days ago, it was actually still 70 degrees here during the day, so I paired it with these $50 faux leather shorts for an edgier look! I'm obssessed with the sleeves on it, and love that it's semi oversized making it perfect to wear with skinny jeans. I actually ended up wearing it on my birthday with these black skinnies and a statement belt because it was too cold for the shorts, and got tons of compliments on the whole outfit!

On another note, I went by Sephora today to checkout the VIB sale! If you're not familiar with the sale, it's Sephora's Holiday Bonus sale which happens once a year (November 10 - November 15) and allows their rewards members to shop between 15%-20% off (depending on status level) on all products in Sephora (very limited exclusions)! While I get that most people are saving their pennies for Black Friday, there are some killer holiday gift sets available that are worth picking up early to save a few bucks! Some of you requested a post on what my favorites from the sale are so I am listing what I bought and why here:

20FORROUGE: 20% off for Rouge member ($1,000+ in spend/year)
20FORVIB: 20% off for VIB member ($350-$999 in spend/year)
INSIDER15: 15% off for Insider members (no required spend, just sign up for their rewards program)

1. Fresh Skincare Cult Classics, $19.50 // I get asked about my skincare routine all.the.time. - and while it's very minimal, the Fresh Soy Cleanser is something I can't live without. I actually got to try it out as my birthday gift from Sephora last year, and have been hooked ever since. This cleanser sooths and softens my skin while keeping it hydrated and well.. looking "fresh." The set also comes with the Sugar Lip Treatment Advanced Therapy which I haven't tried yet, but have been wanting too as it's an age defying lip treatment that's supposed to enhance volume and smooth the look of wrinkles. I use the regular Sugar Lip Treatment daily in the winter and love it, so I'm sure I won't be disappointed. Plus, who can beat both for $19.50?

2. Smashbox Travel Primer Set, $22 // This is a trio of face primers to visibly blur pores and defeat shine. Aka, you need it. I've been using the photo finish for years now! I will say, I don't use it daily as my makeup regimen for work has become minimal. However, if I'm putting a little more effort into my makeup, or shooting outfits for the blog - I don't leave the house without it on. If you have shiny skin, this is great to help reduce that oily look.

3. Fresh Lip Caramel, $18 // The leaves change, skin starts getting dry, and next thing you know - you're lips are crying for help. This stuff is like buttery rich goodness! If you suffer from cracked lips during the winter, you won't be disappointed with this. It keeps your lips moisturized for 24 hours and  with no sticky residue, too.

4. Tartelette Toasted Eyeshadow Palette, $46 // This palette nails it in terms of warm and cozy shades. Hello, me! I'm typically a Smashbox/MAC eye shadow girl, but the second I saw this palette I knew it was good.

5. Tarte Limited Edition Posh Pout Quick Dry & Glossy Lip Set, $36 // I was sorely disappointed when I found out BareMinerals discontinued their Marvelous Moxie line this year as they were my go to for a good gloss. So, I've been on the hunt for something comparable and Tarte keeps coming up as a great reccomendation. I actually didn't buy the entire set as I'd like to try it first, but 8 glosses for $36 is a killer deal. I took home a single gloss to try, and if I like it i'll likely come back for the set!

Phew, there are so many amazing options and definitely a few I added to my wish list as well (see here, and here), but that's a round up of some of my favorites! If you're looking for additional gift options under $50 click here

Shane and I went to Clemson this weekend for the Clemson vs. Florida State game with another couple we are friends with and my sister! I always love going back to my alma mater and reliving my younger days. Sometimes I wish I could do those four years all over again! There's just nothing quite like Clemson on game day. Anyway, I'm writing this from my bed, with the tree lights twinkling in the background, and a christmas movie on -- so duty calls!
